GleenGlass™ Recycled Glass Products and LEED Certification

GleenGlass is an artisan glass studio in Vancouver Washington. GleenGlass reclaims and transforms glass into beautiful, functional works of art and architectural design elements for residential and commercial applications.

GleenGlass is the first company to consistently form products from 100% recycled glass. We work with glass installers and manufacturers to recycle shower doors, commercial windows, and any other glass that would otherwise go into a dumpster. We also work with glass manufacturers to ensure that our sheet-formed products contain a minimum of 25% recycled glass.

GleenGlass recycled glass vessels and surfaces can help gain LEED certification for commercial and residential projects. Our products qualify under a number of LEED categories including:

MR 3.1 Resource Reuse: 1 Point
Requirements
— Use salvaged, refurbished or reused materials, products and furnishings for at least 5% of building materials.
GleenGlass Application
— All GleenGlass products are formed from 25% or greater reused materials and apply to the aggregate percentage of products used in the building of the project to fulfill this requirement.

MR 3.2 Resource Reuse: 1 Point in Addition to MR 3.1
Requirements
— Use salvaged, refurbished or reused materials, products and furnishings for at least 10% of building materials.
GleenGlass Application
— All GleenGlass products are formed from 25% or greater reused materials and apply to the aggregate percentage of products used in the building of the project to fulfill this requirement.

MR 4.1 Recycled Content: 5% 1 Point
Requirements
— Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content constitutes at least 5% of the total value of the materials in the project. The value of the recycled content portion of a material or furnishing shall be determined by dividing the weight of recycled content in the item by the total weight of all
material in the item, then multiplying the resulting percentage by the total value of the item.
GleenGlass Application
— GleenGlass vessels are 100% recycled glass content. GleenGlass surfaces are a minimum 25% recycled glass content with specific recycled content as follows:
• GleenGlass Cobble™ surfaces: 100% post consumer or post industrial recycled glass
• GleenGlass Gleen™ surfaces: 100% post consumer or post industrial recycled glass
• GleenGlass Journey™ surfaces: 25% or greater post industrial or post consumer recycled glass

MR 4.2 Recycled Content: 10% 1 Point in Addition to MR 4.1
Requirements
— Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content constitutes at least 10% of the total value of the materials in the project.
GleenGlass Application
— GleenGlass vessels are 100% recycled glass content. GleenGlass surfaces are a minimum 25% recycled glass content with specific recycled content as follows:
• GleenGlass Cobble™ surfaces: 100% post consumer or post industrial recycled glass
• GleenGlass Gleen™ surfaces: 100% post consumer or post industrial recycled glass
• GleenGlass Journey™ surfaces: 25% or greater post industrial or post consumer recycled glass

MR 5.1 Regional Materials: 20% manufactured regionally: 1 Point
Requirements
— Use a minimum of 20% of building materials and products that are manufactured* regionally within a radius of 500 miles.
*Manufacturing refers to the final assembly of components into the building product that is furnished and installed by the tradesmen. For example, if the hardware comes from Dallas, Texas, the lumber from Vancouver, British Columbia, and the joist is assembled in Kent, Washington; then the location of the final assembly is Kent, Washington.
